Job Description

  • Prepare written (or Word process based) proposal based on format provided for customer submission;
  • Prepare complete mechanical and control costing in format which correlates to Valiant’s Manufacturing Process, drawing and review cost data from SAP and SMS;
  • Work with Advanced Processing Group to prepare cycle time analysis, conceptual drawings, sequence of operations, and technical descriptions of machine stations and major system components;
  • Assist in developing new products, existing product improvements, standards in proposal and costing;
  • To communicate within a “team based” work environment and interact well with fellow employees and external customers;
  • Attend customer line-up meetings and provide technical assistance to salesmen and internal personnel directly responsible for manufacturing and designing of washers or automation;
  • Develop and train other personnel in becoming familiar with the mechanics and proposal estimating procedure for systems assigned;
  • Prepare, conduct and/or assist in technical presentations to customers when required;
  • Prepare WBS, PCN changes, assist project management with scheduling, job progress and customer requirements;
  • Attend and support Engineering and Project Management on Job orders received;
  • When not preparing quotations, assist others in the preparation of automation, assembly machines and tooling quotes, as deemed necessary;
  • Be able to travel out-of-state, if required;
  • Complete processing and negotiating of all engineering changes, inclusive or co-ordination between project managers and other estimating personnel as may be deemed necessary;
  • Maintain tracking system for all changes on approved format using clarifications logs;
  • Save all work. Estimating related, into Vault per instructions documented; and
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical technology, diploma in Technical study or bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Five to eight (5-8) years experience in processing, cost estimating and formulation of written proposals for automation and related systems;
  • Excellent written and oral communications with the ability to successfully manage the customer relations function as it relates to the proposal process;
  • The ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications; and
  • The ability to work with others in a team atmosphere.
