Job Description

1. Quality Technician
a. Initial Analysis
i. Follow measurement process in PCF to establish baseline data
ii. Assist Quality Engineer in correlation of fixture, CMM or scan data
iii. Assist Quality Engineer in surface evaluation baseline
b. Slow Build Process
i. Check panels in PCF and/or Geo station in free state
ii. Evaluate for interference/lock out conditions with between all parts
iii. Build in manual through first Geo station
iv. Measure panel in PCF following designated process
v. Record data on designated documentation
vi. Repeat process through each Geo station
vii. Repeat process at marriage and/or pre-bend station
viii. Repeat process through hemming station
c. Surface Evaluation
i. Assist Quality Engineer in conducting surface evaluation of outer details and assemblies per the GM Surface Quality Evaluation process (GSQE).
ii. Assist in the preparation of surface evaluation forms reports.
d. Root Cause Analysis
i. Assist Quality Engineer with data entry and chart analysis
ii. Identify root cause (part or process)
iii. Assist with test/trial of root cause and counter measure confirmation
iv. Assist Quality Engineer with documentation of analysis
e. Countermeasure Evaluation
i. Assist Quality Engineer to determine appropriate countermeasures.
ii. Assist Quality Engineer with documentation of evaluation
iii. Assist Quality Engineer with preparation of PAR documentation and PAR meetings.
iv. Assist Quality Engineer with development of marker panels for die mods.

f. Program Specific Requirements
i. Personnel to be assigned to support all quality processes for each program. Personnel to be consistent to one program throughout duration of launch.
ii. Measurement process to be consistent for each program throughout the duration of launch. Tools, methods and procedures to be the same for each quality activity for each program throughout the duration of launch.
g. General Requirements
i. Assist in Quality Engineer with activities related to the quality loop process.
ii. Quality Technician must be able to use dial indicators, micrometers, calipers and other tools used for measurement on part fixtures and in Geo Stations.
iii. Quality Technicians must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
iv. GM Safety and Lock Out training as required
v. GM Surface Evaluation training
vi. Ability to interact with customers and suppliers in a team atmosphere.


Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required. Engineering degree is preferred but an equivalent degree with sufficient experience in Engineering disciplines, specifically in Machine & Tool Manufacturing, will be considered.
  • Dimensional Root Cause Analysis, Computer and Analytical / Statistical Skills, and hands-on factory floor experience are highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry and its Quality requirements is highly recommended. Experience in the machine tool industry is preferable.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills and ability to coordinate teams across cross-functional disciplines are required
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others promoting a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to bring assigned tasks to closure.
  • The incumbent must be quality–focused, detail-focused and well-organized.
  • A willingness and ability to travel within North America and internationally for short periods of time when required to assist with tooling dimensional issues.
